High-Cut Swimwear: How to Find a Comfortable Fit
High-cut swimwear has leg openings that sit higher on the hips. That changes its coverage and where its edges meet your body. A familiar size may feel different in this cut, so begin with the measurements and shape of the individual model.

Separate the leg cut from the waist
A high leg opening and a high waistband describe different parts of a swimsuit. Check front and back photos to see the rise, side width and rear coverage. Choose the amount of coverage you prefer, without assuming that every high-cut design fits the same way.
Measure for the model
Use the measurements requested in its size guide, including waist and hips and, for a one-piece, bust or torso length where specified. Follow the guide's measuring instructions and check whether its numbers describe the body or the garment.
If your measurements fall between sizes, use the product's guidance. Going up a size may change the fit in several places; it will not necessarily resolve a suit that is too short through the torso.
Notice where the fit changes
- Edges dig in: compare the size, side width and shape of the opening.
- The suit rides up: look at coverage and whether the fabric pulls vertically when you move.
- Edges gape: check whether the model is too loose in that area.
- Shoulders pull in a one-piece: consider torso length as well as overall size.
Try everyday movements
During a dry fitting that follows the shop's return conditions, sit down, raise your arms and bend slightly. Look for a comfortable fit that stays in place. Adjustable straps can help where a model includes them, but a different cut may suit your proportions better.
For time out of the water, add a loose shirt or sarong if you want another layer. Browse our swimwear collection and check each available model's cut, materials and size guide.
